Those who have visited our retail store may have noticed something new over the past few weeks — the addition of plastic disc golf discs around the shop.
We’ve had a group of avid disc golfers frequenting our store for several seasons now, and Joe and Kierstan have been playing for a while, so our goal was to add a few discs for sale at a time.
In order to test the market, we brought in a display rack and starter bundle of discs from one supplier. We sold more than half of the inventory during the first five days.
The response was tremendous. Not a day has gone by that we haven’t heard from someone excited about us getting into the disc golf market. The local disc golf community has provided us with so much valuable feedback on disc brands, types, and preferences. We can’t thank them enough for their support, and will be sponsoring several tournaments over the coming weeks as well.
We took all of their feedback and have now brought in a full line of discs, bags, and supplies including some of the industries most recognized brands:
- Dynamic Discs
- Latitude 64
- Westside Discs
With ongoing restrictions on indoor gatherings, more and more folks are turning to outdoor recreation — including disc golf. We’ve seen experienced players and those just learning about the sport.
For those just learning, Joe is going to be hosting weekly ‘learn to play’ events Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. in July and August. Nesbitt Park Disc Golf Course is just two miles from our retail shop in Wilkes-Barre. In case of inclement weather, check our Facebook page for updates.
